WOOLF WORKS, NEW YORK 2024

LASER SFX BALLET

Special choreographed laser effects for the American Ballet Theatre at the iconic Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

Commissioned directly by the Royal Opera House we provided choreographed lasers for the launch of Woolf Works by the American Ballet Theatre, based on the writings of Virginia Woolf.

The travelling theatre production began its tour in the United Kingdom and continued its success overseas in the United States of America.

LCI Productions supplied a light and laser show to complement the choreographed dance performance created using 2 x EX 15 lasers synchronized to alternating wavelengths of 532nm, 632nm and 460nm at 2.5mm beam diameter. The dramatic laser show was controlled through a Pangolin Beyond 5.5.5 controller with LCI Productions operator at the helm, with some sequences cued over Artnet from the lighting desk at the Metropolitan Opera House.

LCI Productions worked closely with lighting designer Lucy Carter and associate lighting designer Simon Bennison on the design and synchronisation. The captivating laser and light show was produced using 2 x lighting desk EOS TI to bring everything together for the performance.

The finished product consisted of rainbow beams of light intertwined with lasers to add further dramatic effect to the show, with stage lighting turned off at the finale for the biggest impact.
